May Fire Council featuring a presentation by Scott Nielson about the seasonal wildfire outlook

May Fire Council featured an important presentation by Durango Fire Battalion Chief Scott Nielson. Scott detailed what the models predict for our fire season, as well as the monsoon models for the coming months. It is important to note that the models are not always entirely accurate, but they give a rough depiction of what the season could look like. Scott also answered important questions about response preparedness, and resources available for southwest Colorado. Thank you to Durango Fire for this presentation!

After the presentation, Ambassadors and community members shared the important work they’ve been up to for Wildfire Preparedness Month. Ambassadors really are the backbone of Wildfire Adapted Partnership, and we appreciate the important work they do to get their neighborhoods motivated to do wildfire preparedness.
