June Fire Council featuring a presentation by LPEA and one of our Ambassadors

Jerry Sutherlin of LPEA and one of our WAP Ambassador Brent Leisure joined us to discuss a wildfire mitigation project that has been going on in Los Ranchitios. The work was made possible due to a grant that LPEA received through COSWAP (CO Strategic Wildfire Action Plan). The pair discussed LPEA's role in fire mitigation, how the project was created, Brent's role as an ambassador, and the impacts of the project.

It's been a busy field season already, and we're excited to highlight a project we've been involved with, thanks to our awesome ambassadors and project partners! Brent also serves on the Wildfire Advisory Board, for La Plata County, and through that role has been involved with the development and implementation of the new Wildfire Resiliency Code. This code will apply to all new builds and additions across the state. Brent answered questions about the implementation strategy, the code’s requirements for new builds, and how the Wildfire Resiliency Code Board made the code. Links below are for the new rules that will be implemented for new structures in Colorado.
